Nicolette and I both love Napa Valley Cabernet and have always wanted
to make a great Cabernet together. Between us, we have held just
about every production job in the wine industry. Our dream came
together for us in 2001.
Ron Wicker, a terrific vineyard manager, called and told us some
perfectly farmed Clone 8 had suddenly become available. One look
and we knew we had to have some.

Then, a friend told us about her dentist, who was building a winery.
It turned out to be Steve Reynolds, who was just completing his facility
and who was kind enough to provide a home for our fruit. Daniela Kluger,
another friend, learned about our project and grabbed us a half ton
of prized Cabernet from a hillside vineyard in the Stags Leap District.
And finally, Cathy and Dan Bunnell supplied us with the first crop
from their Atlas Peak vineyard, which was farmed by our friends Jim
Walker and Mike Nunez.
Almost before we knew it, we were putting our stamp on some of
the finest grapes grown in the world and doing our best to produce
wine that expresses the purity of the Napa Valley.
